Erasmus Traineeship

Information on Erasmus traineeships at the University of Vienna is available at our university's International Office website.

Please schedule sufficient lead time for 

• obtaining your home university's approval/issuing the Learning Agreement;
• organising the required insurance proof documents and
• for third country nationals, obtaining a visa for gainful employment (Visum zu Erwerbszwecken).

This means 

• for EU and EEA citizens: schedule 1-2 months between the approval of the Erasmus grant and the start date of your internship.
• for third country nationals: schedule 4–6 months between the approval of the Erasmus grant and the start date of your internship. This is due to the fact that the visa procedure can take 3+ months, followed by the approval from the Austrian Public Employment Service (AMS), which may take another ~3 weeks. The traineeship contract can only be issued once both approvals have been granted.

In any case, please note that you may only start your Erasmus traineeship once you have signed a traineeship contract with the University of Vienna.
